Unconventional Investment Opportunities In Real Estate

Real estate has always been considered a good area to invest in, but there are some problems with it. If you look at traditional real estate – something like buying a house or flat to rent out – you’ll find there is limited growth, and your investment might make money, but it will take a long time to do so.

Because of this, investors and looking for more unusual but lucrative ways to make money from real estate. These alternative ideas offer landlords the chance to make larger returns, and they might not be what most people think of, meaning that it can be an easier area to get into initially. With all this in mind, here are some unconventional real estate investment opportunities to think about.

Co-Working Spaces

The rise of remote work and the way that modern businesses have changed to accommodate this trend (which is only growing in popularity) means that there are definitely some opportunities for property investors to follow. One opportunity is co-working spaces.

These shared spaces are ideal for hybrid business models, but they can also be useful for those working for remote-only businesses who need to get out of their homes once in a while – they can rent a space in a co-working office and have their own desk or even own room.

The flexibility that these spaces offer to startups and established businesses alike means that although there are more things to consider than when compared to residential properties (such as creating areas for people to work in), you will have the benefit of ongoing income from a variety of different people, giving you more chance to make money. If you can’t find a co-working space to buy, you can also think about building your own. If you do, make sure you build steel frame buildings for the most long-lasting result.

Holiday Rentals

People are always willing to spend a little more on their holiday accommodation than they would overall on their homes – this is a treat and something to splash out on, after all. And now that there are platforms like Airbnb that landlords can use to make the entire process easier, it makes sense to invest in holiday rentals if you can.

The key to a successful holiday rental is the location. If you buy a property in an area people like to visit on vacation and you make sure it is comfortable, clean, and has all the facilities they might need, they are going to enjoy themselves and leave a good review. The better your reviews, the more you can charge, particularly during peak periods.

Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)

Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are a great way for investors who want to get into the real estate market to gain access without having to actually own property and all the paperwork and costs that go along with it.

When you invest in a REIT, you will buy part of a property portfolio through shares. This portfolio will be properly managed, and it means you can diversify your investment because there will be a variety of different properties within the portfolio. The more you invest, the more you get back out but, of course, this is never guaranteed.
